Since l907 iT has been operaTed by The school boards oT TredyTTrin and EasTTown and Tor sTudenTs Trom oTher nearby disTricTs aTTenoing T-E TuiTion was paid by Their scrool boards. On May 7 I953 The school boards oT six disTricTs-CharlesTown EasTTown EasT WhiTeland Malvern TredyTTrin and WillisTown-voTed To Torm a new ioinTure To be known as The Paoli Area l-ligh School SysTem To operaTe our iunior and senior high schools beginning wiTh The l953-54 school year. The problems oT operaTing a modern high school sysTem are many and complex. ln addiTion To The maTTers oT operaTion which The superinTendenT musT bring beTore The JoinT Board Tor decision The board musT esTablish policies pay all bills decide how much The disTricTs musT spend To operaTe The schools. ATTer which The individual boards mus decide how each disTricT will raise The necessary amounTs by TaxaTion. The six boards combined have a ToTal oT ThirTy-Two members. Th's is a g.o p OT raTher unwieldy size so in Their ioinTure agreemenT The boards delegaTed Their auThoriTy To an OperaTing CommiTTee consisTing oT Two board members Trom each oT The disTricTs.
