. To TfE When we were only sophomores And new to T-E's ways, We worked to do our very best ' In sports, in work, in play. A little timid first of all, We soon gained confidence, And took our places 'mongst new friends In T-E's halls, content. Two years flew by with memories dear, We sigh when we recall The football games, our Sophomore Hop The Junior-Senior Ball. It seems like only yesterday That we took part in these, But now with saddening hearts We know they're only memories. The Preparation Take thee a child with wide and earnest eyes- A child of six-and then instruct him thus: When he awakes, teach him to work and hopeg When he lies down, to rest with faith in God. Kindle his passion for eternal truth, Elusive in the maze of every day. Teach him to find and value things of worth, From babyhood until his spirit flees . . . When time draws near for him to leave his school, He wisely sees that all his former years Were but the preface to his larger life. As he goes out into the world of men, He will be sad, yet he will live aright: Pursuing truth, content in work and prayer. ALICE MOTLEY '49 Though now we are the seniors With unknown days ahead, We know that when we leave T-E We will be free from dread That comes from leaving classmates dear And making friends anew. We'll have the knowledge and, T-E, ,The courage gained from you. And now the parting hour has come, The challenging world we face. New students, eager with love for thee, Will come to take our place. Remember us, we're '49, The class that leaves you now. Our hearts with loyalty and love Will e'er to T-E bow. LOIS STEVENSON '49 Farewell, Seniors For everything you've done for us As we have journeyed on, We wish to thank you, forty-nineg We'll miss you when you've gone. We'll miss the pranks and capers gay That brought about your fame. Sadness will o'ertake our hearts, When each familiar name Is missing from the roll-call, and When halls no longer ring With the shouting, thumping noises You seniors always bring. And so we say, old friends of Ours, You'll never, never know How it hurts to say goodby when The forty-niners go. LUCY QUICI '51 Eli , I I 11 I iii.: v 1 f A an an-an wiv nv
