This year the band marched in the Armistice Day Parade, the Christmas Parade, and the Cotton Carnival Parade. Another important event in which the band participated was the formal opening of the annual Mid-South Fair in Memphis.. The highlight of the year for the band was a gala Christmas party given at the Hotel Peabody, December 5. This party will long be a fond memory for those members who attended. In January the band held its annual mid- winter concert which was a big success. The band climaxed its year's work with its participation in the graduation exercises. 73

BAND OFFICERS Supervising classroom activities, and setting a pattern of conduct for the band members are some of the duties of the senior band officers. FIRST ROW: Jackson, Librarian, Hill, Custodian: Vaughn, Social Chairmang Gunn, Drum Majorg Carr, Librariang Noonan, Treasurer. SECOND ROW: Walker, Student Director, Archibald, Social Chairman, Davis, Presidentg Cowan, Secretaryg Emerick, Merit Re- corder, Ragsdale, Vice President. Mr. Harlo McCall, director and talented trumpet player, gives his rendition of Carnival of Venice to a capacity crowd at the stage show presented in the fall. The purpose of this show was to finance the band's trip to the Texas State Fair at Dallas. fer -xy
