The Tau Sigma Chapter of the National Honor Society was founded in 1943. The name, Tau Sigma, was chosen because it represents the letters T.S.,'the first letters in Treadwell School. Its colors are yellow and white, and the adopted flower is the Marquerite Daisy. The object of the chapter as stated in the constitution is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in pupils of Treadwell High School. Candidates must have attended Treadwell at least one year and must have and must maintain a high B average. Membership in this chapter is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a Treadwell student in recognition of his scholarship, leadership, character, and service-the four ideals of the society.
