AND DO THESE THINGS Freshman trails hither and yon hunting for 205 Morrison or any other place where one can take a placement test. Then comes a two-hour stretch of perspiration and pencil pushing while the new collegian racks his brain for the education he left behind in high school. Registration, all four complicated hours of It, follows, and Freshman is now a Transylvanlan. Dressed in onions and other weird accoutrements. Freshman now begins to attend classes and buy books. Yes, they really cost four dollars, and the assignments really are that long, but somehow th ere are more important things going on for the first week or two anyhow. There are pajama parades, to the dirge of We Love the Sophomores, and then rushing. Meanwhile, Freshman learns to live In one room, to hang pictures on straight pins and to get along with a roommate who insists on listening to the Singing Cowboys In the very early morning. But somehow adjustments are made and the compromising parties never know who has given In. First outside reading Is assigned, and studying begins from sheer necessity.

Freshmen rook to him for advice on class schedules and conduct in general. He is the student minister ' s best friend. Al- ways he Is their advocate and friend. hierself new to the campus this year. Dean Margaret Newman counsels new girls on campus activities and daily deportment.
