H 5-Y Conferences Stimulate Club Work To extend their knowledge of Y work and to foster friendships, Hi-Y members attended conferences at Sequoia Lake and at Fowler High School. A. J. Northrop, YMCA Sec- retary, was guest speaker at the club's annual potluck din- ner in the fall, and in the spring he met with the group around the lunch table. A high point in the year's activities for seven of the boys was a week-end trip to San Francisco, Oakland, and San- ta Cruz, with Adviser Ray Moyer as guide. ln co-operation with the Future Farmers, six Hi-Y members went to Yosemite but failed to find the snow they had anticipated. They gave a Thanksgiving basket to a needy family, sent a CARE package overseas and collected money tor the March of Dimes. The latter was done by selling peanuts and by a guessing contest, which had, as its prize, a jar of candy. Club members sold soda water at football and baseball games and at track meets to tatten their treasury. For entertainment, they had a dance with a St. Patrick's Day theme. Y-Teens honored their mothers at the annual Mother-Daughter Banquet which was held in May.
