SEATED: Joyce Ni- boli, Diane Smithson, Janet Tuttle, Wanda Simpson, Dolores Enriauez, Claudia Black. CSF, Quill and Scroll Members Are Outstanding in Achievement Membership in the California Scholarship Federation and in Quill and Scroll is based on out- standing achievement. A student must have ten points, at least eight of them in scholarship, to be entitled to join CSF. Two points may be made through activities. Life membership in the organization is earned when a student has been a novitiate member six semesters. Candidates for membership in Quill and Scroll, international honor society for high school journalists, may be elected from newspaper or yearbook staffs. They must be juniors or seniors who have done superior work in writing, editing, or business management. They must be in the upper third of their class in general scholastic standing. Last spring Tranquillity CSF chapter was elected secretary school for the fall district con- ference. Janet Tuttle was chosen by the local members to perform the duties of secretary at the Reed- ley conference. The chapter's main activity is selling hot dogs and sodas at games to obtain money to be used as scholarships for worthy graduates who go on to college. Yeafs Activities Are Recorded in Tule, Award-llinning Hi-Lite ln yearbook and newspaper the story of the year's work and play is told, The i956 Tule speaks for itself. The l-li-Light received a certificate ot excellence from the San Joaquin Valley Scho- lastic Press Association at the spring press conference. This is the second time in succes- sion that the Hi-Lite has had the highest rat- ing when judged with printed papers from schools ot 500 or under in the San Joaquin Valley.
