DEDICATIO Mrs. Riggs, then Dean of Girls is shown talking to one of the students. Mrs. Riggs, shown in Senior Pond with some of her students. 'Gust i X Wax K 5 V , si , sf snst , 2 ., , Mrs. Leila Riggs, who at the end of the Spring, 1959 term retired after 37 years here at Tracy High School, is currently the envied owner of the converted old court house and post office in Calico, California, which the town is currently being restored largely through the efforts of the Walter Knott family of Knott's Berry Farm. Her earliest association with mining towns, however, includes several years of residence in various Nevada towns while her father was engaged in mining ventures. Mrs. Riggs received her formal training at the Uni- versity ofNevada and was honored by her election to Phi Kappa Phi, ultimately she was awarded a masters degree. Her first teaching position was with Tracy High School. Here she will always be remembered for her active interest in scholarships and leadership. Her current retirement leaves Mrs. Riggs, who has traveled widely in this hemisphere, pondering the possibility of a round-the-world trip after a well deserved rest. CROW SUPEEINTENDENTS MESSAGE Some students attend high school because of legal requirements,some students attend simply because it's the thing. to do, while other students attend high school because to them school becomes A Glimpse of Heaven. Tracy High through the united efforts of the Board of Trustees, the Administration, and the Faculty offers a curriculum which is based upon the wide variation in interests, needs, and abilities of stu- dents. Continual adaptation of courses is based upon redefining and reappraising the needs of society. New methods are encouraged to re- evaluate the outcome of our program. Our pro- fessional staff, materials of instruction, and physi- cal facilities insure the maximum progress of each student toward the goals of the school. The untiring efforts of our well qualified E1 Portal staff retain for all of us a factual record of all student organizations and activities.
