Kneeling: Bernie Dukehart. In TC s gym, the old proverb Practice makes perfect is tested all through the season. As for- wards break, guards rebound, and whistles blow, the season appears in full swing. But the color and action of the games do not tell the whole story. Valuable hours of practice, trial and error are woven into a good team. With techniques learned and plays to be experimented with. Varsity and Jayvee respond eagerly to Mr. Karseras ' s excellent coaching. A typical practice begins with drills. The five-man weave develops efficient ball handling and coordination. The figure eight improves passing and shooting. Other drills stress guarding. A good player himself, Mr. K points out defenses, strives to make the simplest moves accurate. Improvement grows. Outside shots and jump shots become skilled. Under strong direction, the Owlettes hoped to defeat teams with more experience. Sometimes they did. Next year they will. — F.M.
