CATHVEDRAL OF TlHiE ASSUMIPTION LAST November, His Excellency Michael J. Curley quietly morked the Silver Jubilee of his instollo- tion in the Bosilico of the Assumption, os the Arch- bishop of Boltimore. He wos the Archbishop of Bciltimore ond Woshington since l939 until decith colled him Moy l6, l947. On every side within these orchdioceses ore visible the fruits of his lcibors. During these 26 yecirs, more thon 60 porochicil schools hove been estoblished, Under his leodership the school stondcirds of both dioceses hove been roised. He hos mode it his speciol concern thcit sound Cotholic teoching, the best modern teochingnmethods, ond ci sufficiency of physicol exercise give his dioceses the best of schools. All these ore monu- ments to his ordent zeol in the improvement of Cotholic educotion, yet his nome is not inscribed on even one. He served cis Choncellor of the Cotholic University during these yeors, cind he hos hod oudiences with the five Popes from Leo XIII to our present Holy Fother. Archbishop Curley will olwciys be remembered for his sincere love of children ond his unceosing efforts in furthering higher educotion.
