The game, played in our gym, was one of the closest of the season. Al- though the first field goal was scored by Bel Air, the Towson team responded with enough points to make the half-time count l7-9, and was never headed thereafter. OF COURSE, WE LOST SOME . . . In our second league game we lost to Catholic High, 25-l l, on their court. We also lost to Seton, 45-l4. Our other de- feats were Patterson, 22-T9, Notre Dame of Maryland, 30-23, Catholic High, 36-l9, and the Institute of Notre Dame, 44-25. TO SUM IT ALL UP . .. The varsity has scored 382 points in l4 games, to their opponents 396 points. Lois Reed leads the Varsity with 2l2 points. This year the re- sults of the season are evenly divided, with 7 victories and 7 losses. First on the list of wins is the Alumnae, 23-I3, then Sparks twice defeated, 40-25 and 35-I2, Park School, 33-2l, Belair, twice 40-20 and 33- 29, and the Institute of Notre Dame, 44-33. VARSITY WINS C. G. S. A. OPENER The Towson Catholic C-irls' basketball team boasted a 44-33 victory over the ln- stitute of Notre Dame in the first game of the newly formed Catholic C-irls' Scholas- tic Association, on February i, in our gym. Lois Reed's point-a-minute scoring gave her a total of 33 points. Notre Dame succeeded in tieing the score at I5-I5 in the second quarter, but Lois Reed followed through with two field goals which put our team ahead I9-I5 at the half. A new zone defense put in play by the T. C, guards enabled them to limit the Notre Dame forwards to I8 points in the second half, while our forwards: Billingslea, Mooney, and Reed racked up a total of 25 points. OUR FRIENDLY RIVALS LOSE In the initial fray of the season, T. C. triumphed over the alumnae, 22-I3. The High School team sparked by Lois Reed's I5 points, succeeded in keeping the lead throughout the game, the score at the half being I2-9. T. C. TRAVELS The Towson girls traveled to Sparks on two separate occasions, to defeat the host team 40-25 and 35-I2, Our girls proved to be faster than the comparitively short Sparks team, and were able to hold a safe lead throughout both games. THE TEAM LOSES A CLOSE ONE In another early battle this season, the Varsity six bowed to Patterson Park, 22-I9. Unused to a large court, T. C. lost out in the first half -by registering only 2 field goals and 2 foul shots, giving the Pats a I3-6 leeway at the half. In the final half we outscored them, I3-9. BELAIR TWICE DEFEATED As the result of a trip to Bel Air, T. C. took the latter team into camp 40-20, The highlights of the game were the two strings of guards, who were alternated quarter by quarter, and allowed Bel Air only three field goals in the first half.

A jump is called between Jean- 'iette Radebaugh and an opposing forward, as both cling tightly to the ball. Towson Catholic Varsity guards: Emily Mercer, Gertrude Pugh, Jeannette Rade- baugh scramble to gain possession of the ball after an unsuccessful shot by Patter- son Park forwards. TOWSON CATHOLlC'S JAY VEE The Jay Vee have not been so suc- cessful in the games. They have won two from Sparks and tied with Pork l-l. They were defeated by Patter- son, lnstitute, Catholic High and Seton. The girls on the J.V. are all playing their first year of basketball except Peggy Bushman who is play- ing her second year. They have the fight and the spirit through every game - win or lose. The Junior Var- sity players, today, are our future Var- sity players of tomorrow. The offense players for the J. V. are: Peggy Bushman, Judy McGinn, Jean Beavan, and Eleanor Kohles.
