Towson Catholic's three man zone and two man, man for man, proved Boys' Latin's undoing, as the losers were unable to effectively penetrate the de- fense and their outside shots failed. Bolton and O'Brien paced the victorious cagers by scoring l2 points apiece, while St. Ledger, Bermel, Scrivener, and Vaughan controlled the backboards throughout the game. ST. PAUL'S LAST MINUTE BASKET SINKS . C. St. Paul's Crusies out-lasted the Towson Catfholic Owls in a very close game at the Towson Armory. Towson Catholic using everything from a man to man, to a 3-2 zone, held the high scoring Crusaders to 20 points. ln the final quarter, with a iminute and i5 sec- onds remaining to play, Keigler scored on a set shot to put St. Paul in the lead. But 20 seconds later the Owls' Tommie Vaughan knotted the score on a beautiful set shot from mid-court. Pandemonium reigned! After an exchange of unsuccess- shots by both teams, Heubeck let fly a desperation shot which was partially block- ed by John St. Ledger, but the ball was not deflected quite enough, and dropped through for the game winning 2 points. Heubeck was high man, with 9 points for the Crusies, while, Vaughan came through with 7 points for the Owls. The final score being 20-I8.
