X Upon looking back through the years, we find that the Class of 1952 has seennumerous changes-changes in size, faces, teachers, the building in which we received our education and our, rights to a high school diploma. In September 1940, nine of us started our school days atTownvil1e School. We credit our good beginning to our teacher, Miss Virginia Peters. We found the mysteries cfreading and writing not so mysterious after all. The memories of grade school are rather vague. Our class increased in size through the years. We remember especially the skating party at Canadohta lake sponsored by Miss Andrews at the end of our fourth year. Junior High sure was a big change for us. New classmates from Richmond and Steuben townships increased our class to forty members. Another new experience was 'changing classes.' Remember the daily trips down to the Vocational Buudf ing and back? The weather didn't matter. The Junior High Prom which we spon- sored as ninth graders was enjoyed by all, even Mr. Howard Newson our class advisor. That was also the year the faculty decided the boys were better cooks than the girls after judging the products of a baking contest. In our Sophomore year the greatest changes occurred. We were now attend- ing Townville Consolidated School. Classmates from Troy Township joined us and we became one big family under one roof. We helped initiate the new building which wasn't quite complete when school began. Little men with hammers and saws kept running about interrupting classes lespecially Mr. Msson's English classesl. Extra-curricular activities for the year included a float in the Community Fair for which we won second prize, and a class party at which we enjoyed a movie and dancing. Mr. Donald Wile was our advisor. Then cams the Junior year. One more year and graduation, but first we had to study Chemistry, Algebra, Shorthand, etc. All our efforts were put forth to the earning of money to finance a bigger and better Junior-Senior banquet and prom. Our first income was from winning second prize on our float, 'Industries of Townv1lls,' which we entered in the Community Fair parade. We sold refresh- ments at all home basketball games and Salt Water taffy by the pound and maga- zine subscriptions, too. Then came the Junior play Won, Elmer' written by a fellow student, Raymond Vincent. Who can forget that tough hombre Elmer lBrian Armstrongl, Prof. Horton lDavid Coates! or Mrs. Anderson lChar1otte Steadman.l Spring and the big events came and went but memories linger on. The banquet at Pinehurst was enjoyed by all. Then our first prom...dying hundreds of yards of cheesecloth blue and sewing them together tomake a false ceiling in the gym... dancing under the stars to Boby Ford's orchestra...the smell of lilacs and apple blossoms. It was pretty nice and we certainly had an eventful yean Miss Lea Barlett was our advisor during the year. At last--1951-52--dignified Seniors. We didn't want to study but we decided we had better. That diploma was close at hand. Nevertheless our 'Dis- appointed Bride' float in the Connunity Fair parade wen first prize and the senior play, 'The Trouble Solvers,'wms a big success. Because we worked so hard as Juniors, we were able tofinance a trip toCleveland to the Ice Capades. We were accompanied by our class advisors, Miss Marjorie McDowell and Miss Loa Barlett. Mr. and Mrs. Van Slyke were guests. Although nervous but happy, we went through graduation exercises and regretfully closed twelve years of work and play as students bound together for a common cause--education for the future . ' enior C4455 prop ecy X QQQ- 3 Elmer and Arabella are looking into their crystal 4 - ball to see what the members of the Class of '52 will , ' be doing in the future. Here is what the see. Q, 7 y LX S Kent Armstrong, owner of the Street Cleaning Cor- 2:iQX.aRiQ 1:45 poration, has his main interest at home with Rosann, f ' X v 1 N so his bachelor brother Brian takes charge of the business matters. Jean B own and Donna Reitz, now State Policewomen, are still trying to catch Ken Strawbridge in his big brown Buick. Charles Minick of the State Police has a terrible time trying to stop speed-demon Barbara King long enough to arrest her. Gertrude Wood and husband Bill now are raising their baseball team and are striving for a football team. The reason is because Wendell Bertram, the new coach, has developed a football team at Townville Consolidated School. Charlotte Steadman, elementary teacher at the school has former Carol Lee Anderson-and Donna Hanna's off-spring as pupils. Ldllian Brown, head nurse at the new Townville Hospital, is treating Todd Burrows' black eye. He got it in a boxing match when he became heavy-weight boring champion. Nancy Rodgers and Nancy Elliott are commanding officers of the WAC. They are stationed in South Africa. On the other hand, Jeanette Yochum and Helen Smith are now running a day and night nursery. Of course, the children they try to keep under control are their own. David Coates, parts manager of Lawrence Steadman's garage, is working on Tom Wallis' new Chevrolet. Ken HcAlevy, manager of the Meadville Branch of Bell Telephone Company, is training Kenny, Jr. to become a telephone repair- man. Jack Hanna, who is a full fledged electrician, just finished wiring Joan Crone's new Drive-In Restaurant. Marie Armstrong is employed as the head cook and Luella Hollabaugh and Barbara Gillette are waitresses. Dorothy Kalkbrenner and Louise Seeger are the originators of the Dainty Dames ladies foolball team. Jim Carpenter is their manager, water boy, and mascot with Russell Hull as cheerleader. Herbert Gariepy, now manager of the Ritz Hotel, was the first customer at Lucille Hanna and Barbara Steadman's Beauty Salon. Herb still prides his curly hair and takes excellent care of it. Paul Kirk, president of the Townville Trust Company, lends finances to Meridth Webster, bum. Shirley Copeland is employed as secretary. and book- keeper by Paul to take care of the business matters of his bank. Another commercial student, Leona Van Cise, has a full time job as private secretary and librarian for lr. Mason. The former Key Kanyuck just ended the third consecutive day of shopping with no success for a pair of shoes big enough for Richard Feeley, Jr. Dick now owns and runs a modern, well equipped farm. Elmer and Arabella are quite pleased with what they have seen in the crystal ball. The Glass of '52 is represented in almost every walk of life and success for every member is sure to be found. .ir V ra Qu? - - aw' enior s'-4? Inst we journey on so soon, Life has just begun. leave the school and friends that care, Leave a page of our life's tale, And travel, who can tell us where, As we go down 1ife's trail. Short-too short--has been our stay. Time with rushing flight Hurries us through glowing day Toward unfolding night. Life is but a breeze at best, In an endless gale. Yet perhaps we'1l hear the rest, As we go down life's trail. Fond memories of many a year To us will linger on. Our last school days end here, In the glowing dawn.
