Glass pfzopltecxl After a crisp, cold day in February, I had settled down in an easy chair with my favorite book, but my thoughts were not on the book and I dozed off to sleep. I seldom dream, but suddenly I found myself walking down a strange street. All the houses along the street were dark, but the house at the end was all aglow with lights and the doors stood invitingly open. As I walked in I found myself among friends. They asked me if I would like to see their new television set, which was set ten years in the future. Of course I was first interested in seeing what the fate of each of my classmates was to be. First one shown was Maxine Anderson, who after graduation from Townsville and Pease Col- lege, she still retained her ambition to become a model, but a handsome young Romeo changed her mind for her and now she is happy in her own home. The next flash showed the office of the governor of North Carolina. Busily occupied at the desk was a neatly dressed secretary. The red hair and blue eyes looked familiar, and I soon recognized my classmate Frances Elliott. Once again the scene changed and a view of the athletic field of my Alma Mater flashed before my eyes. The boys were very busy trying to improve their technique in baseball. No wonder they were making such a high average for their coach, Bruce Guerrant was very alert to see each error and show them how to improve. The next scene carried us far out on the ocean. Here was a large ship, heavily loaded be- longing to the Merchant Marines. Aview of the inside of the ship showed many sailors each busy with his own duties. Who was that neatly dressed cook in the galley, who was briskly ordering his helpers about? As the scene came nearer the center of the screen, we recognize Clarence Matthews. Another ship came into view. But this was a large aircraft carrier belonging to the Navy. On the deck was Bob Morgan. It was hard to tell just how he looked with his trousers rolled to his knees and he was busily swabbing the deck. He seemed very happy for he was singing' to the rhythm of his mop. The scene shifted and a group of farmers came in view. They were eagerly listening to their agricultural agent, Tom Morgan. Tom took them out to visit the experimental farm of Lawerence Reese, where Lawerence was putting into practice the things he learned in college. Once again the scene was changed and a Greyhound bus was streaking across- the country. It was the New York to Miami special. As the bus pulled into the station we recognized the dri- ver as Herbert Norwood. We were impressed by the courtesy and tact he showed each passenger. The next scene carried us to the football stadium of Chapel Hill, whereagame was in progress between Carolina and Elon College. We were surprised at Elon playing in the top athletic groups, but sitting on the sidelines was their coach, John Norwood, who hadtrained his team so efficient- ly, The last scene showed the office of the Colonial Mills in Clarksville. Imagine my surprise at seeing myself expertly typing letters. Adoor slammed andlawoke. As I gazed into the fire I could not help but wonder how much of my dream would really come true.
