Senior Prophecy One evening as I was walking slowly along a country road,kicking up the dust as I went, my eyes fell upon a little bottle that had been carelessly cast aside. For some inexplicable reason I walked toward it, and picked it up. To my sur- prise it was tightly corked and inside were some small bits of paper. There writ- ten in very small letters, so small that I could not read them with my naked eye, were some words which aroused my curiosity.I hurried home and quickly placed the Bits under a microscope. TO my amazement I could plainly see these words, HThe Class Prophesy of the senior Class of 1949 at T.H.S.U Quickly I scanned the rest, my heart almost bursting with excitement. So this was our futuregfrom whence h d it come? Immediately I sought out wFather TimeH,and asked if he knew its sources. His reply was HMy child, you and your classmates have written your own future.I have only recorded it for youu. HBut whybwas it lying by the wayside?H I asked. nThBt I do not know,w he replied,Hbut I must scold my workers for so carelessly han- dling such valuable records.H Then without further delay, I began to read. Patsy Ann Whitehouse fulfilled the dearest wish of her high school days, she became a nurse and now holds the position as superintendent of nurses in the new Henderson Hospital. Jessie Shearin joined the Navy and after sailing thewsevenvseasw for several years, returned and is now operating a big hotel at Miami Beach. Edna Morgan, not contented with her B.A. degree from woman's College,contin- ued her studies at Columbia University,receiving her Master's degree in Chemistry she and her doctor husband, are now working with a group of scientists who hope soon to find the cause and cure for polio. Charles Thaxton Keeton attended the University of North Carolina for four years,spec1alizing in business administration, then he was sent to south America to manage a big manufacturing plant. He is married to his stenographer who is none other than Jo Ann Conley. To my surprise, my future was just ss the prophecy foretold. I, too, became a nurse. while on duty with a very wealthy old lady, I fell in love with her son, and he persuaded me to give up my career as a nurse. I am now living on a large estate, surrounded by luxury. My fondness for walking along country lanes led to my priceless discovery. ' Jeane Conley, Prophet
