I DIVIDUALS STA D OUT ST. PAUL'S ADVANCED STUDIES PROGRAM Those who attended this stimulating program :mf subjects not commonly encountered in high school cur1'iculum, were QL. to RJ D. Bennett, S. Michaelson, R. Coggeshall, R. Kanerva. The subjects the boys participated in were Greek, Modern European llistory, Concepts of Mathe- matics, and Calculus, respectively. The courses lasted six weeks and the work completed was rqual to a year's study. To supplement the hours spent in study, a program of organized athletics was provided. The boys were selected on the wasis of their academic standing, applications, and interviews. pn-...W P X , .' N 4 ' N.. R . GIRLS' AND BOYS' STATE ATTENDANTS Those who attended Girls' and Boys, State were: CL. to RQ D. Perkins, D. Shackett, L. Hurd, C. Goyette, P. Smet, C absent when picture was taken: C. Lewkoj. During the summer of 1958 they attended sessions on government and governmental procedure. After studying the procedure of parliament, they conducted cam- paigns and were elected to mock offices. The experience and social know-how gained were in- valuable and all part of the fun had by all. 1-' MODEL U.N. jean VVoodard and David. Bennett were privi- eged to attend the Model U.N. Assembly in vlay of 1958. They were assigned Lebanon and ordan, respectively, representing them at Block neetings and Plenary Sessions. An internation- il hall was held in honor of all who attended, wreaking up the otherwise strict schedule. A -learer picture of international affairs and U.N. iroeedures was obtained and brought back to ellow-students. . ...L , K' rs A Q... STUDENT TEACHERS This program, set up for students in their junior year, is a measuring stick for future VOCZI- tional choice. The girls went into the elementary grades and observed methods and procedures. One morning a week, for eight weeks, they gained actual teaching experience.
