Shortly after returmng from Chrlstmas vacatlon we were all shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the death of Mr Harry E Algard head of our Mathematlcs Department Much has been sald IH trlbute to Mr Algard already but we would llke to acknowledge the many wonderful thlngs he dld for us as a class It was apparent to all of us that he took much more than an average lnterest 1n h1s professlon and 1n the students whom he taught He was never too busy to explaln-once agaln that baffllng problem or go over a dlsappolntlng test In addltlon to hls purely scholastlc dutles he was an advlsor for the Semor Class and the Soclal SCFVICC Commlttee Anyone who went to hlm for guldance 1n one of these two capacltles could be sure of competent and helpful advlce Therefore we the Senlor Class as our Class Clft have provlded for the Algard Mathematlcs Award to be presented each year at Class Day EXCICISCS to the Senlor who has achleved the hlghest average ln math durlng hls Junlor and Senlor Years We hope that llllS wlll show ln some degree our apprec1at1on for the years of serv1ce wh1ch Mr Algard devoted to Tower Hlll School 5' X At 7 . . , . . 7 . , .
