Oriole Ecliforiol Board FLRST ROW: Carol Webster, Elizabeth Cooper, Ellen Blakely, Joyce Cook, Marian MacDonald. SECOND ROW: Sue Towner, Vicki Kinglsey, Alan Stevens, Thomas Blakely, Nancy Bullock, Carol Weisbrod. The ORACLE, Towanda's first school paper, was first published in 1910 in magazine form. For two or three years the paper was continuedg then be- cause of the high cost of publication during World War I it ceased to be pub- lished. In 1918 the 'school published the ORACLE again. After several inter- vals during which it was not published, in 1926, its name was changed to the Oriole and since then the paper has continued successfully under thatname to keep students informed of the latest school activities, to encourage free ex- pression of school ideas, and to bolster school spirit. So we, the members of this staff, leave the Oriole in the hands of you, next years students, to maintain the standard of our backers, for criticisms ofthe Oriole will always be constructive if a dearth of material is as remote in the editor's thoughts as the swimming of the Arctic 'Ocean by man. 88
