The girls were up against some tough competition during the 1984-85 season, but they showed talent. Although they will be losing Oail. Tammy, and Donna, there will be quite a few returning seniors for next year's season. The varsity did not have a very good record, but they worked as a team and had a lot of fun. The J.V. team had four freshmen who gained experience playing and next year's season should be a promising one for both teams. Coach Henson did a good job at being a coach and being a friend to the girls. Keep up the GOOD JOB GIRL9!! 56 Ln VI Jenny Howell. Susan Krans. A warm laughter filled the room after those words were spoken by Mr. Lee Henneberry. The humorous irony of the statement lies in the fact that he told the anecdote 35 years later at his retirement luncheon. On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of Toulon-LaFayette Community Unit District ft2, the 1885 TOLO would like to express our sincere appreciation to you, Mr. Lee Henneberry for your 35 years of dedicated service to our district. 81 Class of 1985 Shewn Whittaker. Qaluietorian Or eg Blakey Jody Knudsen Mr. Harland (above) Graduation was held on a very hot Sunday afternoon, May 2G, 1985. As the gym crowded full, the 38 graduates were nervously awaiting 3:00 p.m., the time when they would march out in front of the biggest crowd they had yet to face. The speakers were Kip King, valedictorian: 8hawn Whittaker, salutatorian; Jody Knudsen; and Greg Blakey. Jimmy Langdon gave a special dedication in the memory of Mark Buley. The awards were presented by the various sponsors and the diplomas were handed out by Floyd Ham. 82 83 Dedication Mr. A. J. Harlan is 8 graduate of LaFayette High School, Northern Illinois University, Knox College, and the University of Illinois. He has been with Toulon for 21 years, serving as a teacher of English and P.E. for 16 years. He has served as principal for 8 years as well as athletic director for 8 years. Mr. Harlan has been with the class of 1885 for 6 years as principal. He has been a friend to all of the students as well as a principal. For all of his help and support, we proudly dedicate the 1985 TOLO to Mr. A. J. Harlan. 84 Editor’s Page When we were asked to be the TOLO editors for our 8enior Year we were really excited. After we found out some of the problems and hassles to the job, the excitement faltered a little. Through the year there was work to be done at all times. Our unique style of organization was a set back in our progress. The staff members who helped us were greatly appreciated, Lord knows we needed the help. We worked hard to save money to help to get the TOLO out of debt. We hope the work will continue throughout the years. We thank everyone who helped us this year, and we thank Mrs. Gibler, Mr. Harland, and Mrs. Beamer for putting up with us. Lisa and I hope this yearbook is all we expected it to be. We hope you enjoy it. Lori Appenheimer Lisa Carlton 85 ?ew«.re 6-ptrhe iru i ;'b e AJinia.
