The Council began this year by orientating the freshmen to the corridors of Toulon High, followed by the election of class officers. Homecoming was a great success with the Council in charge of the coronation, the dance, the pep session, and the supervision of decorations in the gym. With the help of the office practice class and Mrs. Keller, the student handbook was published much earlier. The Council also sponsored the Christmas party which consisted of a program of skits and musical numbers. The Scholastic Committee promoted scholarship among the students by giving the special scholastic letter to those students achieving a 4.5 average and by distributing slang cards. The Student Council has been especially active in the promotion of having an AFS student in Toulon next year. The activity is due to the presence of Phil who has been a great inspiration to the entire council. Of these twenty girls, four were special librarians and helped Mrs. Keller with extra duties. These girls dedicated a portion of their day to help you swiftly find and check out the books you desired. I think these girls deserve a vote of thanks from all. The Toulon High Band, under the direction of Ronnie R, McNeal, has participated in several activities this year. The marching band went to Illinois State University in their annual Homecoming Parade on October 31, 1965. The Concert Band, Dance Band, and Chorus presented a concert January 25, 1966, that was recorded on tape and sold as a record. The profit made from these records was used to send two students to music camp. These students were chosen by Mr. McNeal on the basis of ability and interest in music. The Toulon Women's Club donated three other scholarships to camp. The scholarship winners were John Addis, Mary Addis, Ann Lambert, Jan Miller, and Sally Swedeen. State Music Contest was held March 12, 1966, at Western Illinois University. Toulon received 7 superior ratings, 18 excellent, and 10 good. The Music Department presented a musical comedy in the spring entitled Sky High. These were only a few of the many and varied activities in which students of the Toulon High School Music Department participated during the 1965-66 school year. We hope to strengthen our music department by broadening our achievements and furthering our goals in the years to come. Row 3: T. Ham, M. Henneberry, S. Eberle, P. Trickle, J. Ziegler, M. Varsity The Trojans ended their 1965 football season with a record of two wins, six losses, and one tie. Many contributing factors were involved in our losing season. Inexperience played a major role in the beginning, and as the season moved along the team improved a great deal. The accident at mid-season involving six first team players also hurt our ball club just as we started to really come around. A vote of praise should be given to our co-captains, Perry Muckey and Roger Sornberger, who were selected second team a 11-conference, and to Terry Pyle, a fine defensive player and a good leader, selected all-conference Honorable Mention. The sign of a good ball club is to try and win every game possible by giving their best until the last second of each game. Our boys clearly showed this sign throughout the 1965 season. The advice to “hurry, hurry” or “Walk; don't run” simply causes Time to smile at such human silliness. “The future is something everyone reaches at the rate of sixty minutes an hour, whatever he does, whoever he is.” Realizing that time is precious becomes one's salvation in a humdrum existence. Time cannot be preserved, but it can be made to preserve the person in memories and deeds. Time is the mold for our deeds, which are done and gone in time - but forever etched on the records of eternity. ?J ,.rs (« ca v a MM« m M fe vk(ai
