Ed Ham was absent when the picture was taken. S tM dim JiUtCKf As our high school years came to a close, we took one last lingering glance into our past. Our freshman year was full of FIRSTS: initiation parties, dances after the games, English notebooks., being on the athletic teams, homecoming, and the F.H.A. Formal. Our class leaders were Donna Drake, Pres.; Craig Webster, V. Pres.; Bob Williamson, Sec. -Treas.; Dave Roark, Reporter; and Alexis Schmidt and Walt Anderson as Student Council Representatives. Our sponsors were Mrs. Carlock and Mr. Hampton. In our next year we felt like OLD PROS. We made a little money on our coat check and felt rich and powerful. Our class officers were Bob Williamson, Pres.; Craig Webster, V. Pres.; Rita Chilausky, Reporter; Vickie McMillen, Sec.-Treas.; and Donna Drake and Alexis Schmidt as the Student Council Representatives. Then came our junior year, and we were finally UPPERCLASSMEN. We elected as our class officers Jacquie Briggs, Pres.; Bob Williamson, V. Pres.; Rita Chilausky, Sec. -Treas.; Roger Talbert, Reporter; and Vickie McMillen and Alexis Schmidt as the Student Council Representatives. Our sponsors were Mrs. Musselman and Mr. Hampton. This was an important year because of our beautiful prom, Underwater Fantasy . Then we became BIG IMPORTANT SENIORS! Our o f f i c er s were Bob Williamson, Pres.; Steve Arnold, V. Pres.; Karen Dutton, Sec.-Treas.; Roger Talbert, Reporter; and Rita Chilausky and Donna Drake as our Student Council Representatives. Our class sponsors were Miss Pyfer and Mr. Hampton. We will always remember the lovely prom that the JUNIORS gave us and the great fun that we had on our senior trip. This was also the year that we chose our motto, color, and flower. Our motto was And Gladly Will We Learn. . Our colors were coral and white, and our flower was the gladiola. Then came Graduation. The days had gone slowly but the years flew by, and now we were free for a working career or the college life! The Student Council started the great school year of 1963-64 by orienting the freshmen, helping them to become better acquainted with the ”oT halls of Toulon High. The freshmen elections were held a few weeks after school started Homecoming was a success this year with the Student Council in charge of all the activities which included the King and Queen and Court elections, the supervision of decorations in the gym, the pep session, the dance, and the coronation. For the second year the Student Council made the student handbook free of charge for the whole school In tlie handbook information such as phone numbers, rules, etc. is given to be of assistance to the student. The Council also sponsored the Christmas party which consisted of a program of skits and musical numbers. The faculty helped by furnishing the refreshments. Each year the Student Council holds spring elections for the Student Council and the class officers for the following year. These elections are conducted as much as possible like the government elections with petitioning, registration, and private election booths During Student Council Week in April the Student Council sponsored an assembly and displayed its activities to the student body.to make them more aware of the organization. jr ______ Every year the Council gives scholastic letters to the freshmen and sophomores who have achieved a B (4.5) average during the school year. This award is an honor and piuniwus si'lmUU'lUnp ariliMlij Student's The 1963-1964 Student Council started a new proj-ect--by taking the initial steps toward having an American Field Service foreign student attend Toulon High School. If the Councils of the following years receive the support of the school and community, it will be possible to have a student from a foreign country by the school year of 1965-1966. Rita also wrote many special articles for the paper. She was assisted by Mary Wright, who will be next year's editor. The boss this year was Mr. Treash. The Toulonicle Staff was quite large, comprised of thirty-two members that each month wrote news and highlites of Toulon High. iVSrtV-J The photos on this page show the various steps one has to go through to print the Toulonicle. First, the Editor and Assistant Editor proofread each article and make the dummy sheets. Next the typing and stenciling is done for each page on the stencils--then finally the finished stencils are attached to the mimeograph machine and run-off. This whole process represents one week of work. WORK, Becky! Seated left to right: Jack Lambert, Larry Williamson, Terry Dorman, Roger Anderson, Dwain Webster, Gary Fell, Mr. Pearson. The officers were as follows: Roger Anderson, President; Bill Smith and Terry Dorman, Secretary, Gary Fell, Treasurer; Reporter, Jack Lambert; and Larry Williamson, Sentinel. When Bob and Bill Smith, a couple of outstanding members, moved to Spar land, Dwain Webster and Terry Dorman did a fine job filling their offices. The money-making projects for the year included our F.F. A. corn plot, rat bait campaign, garden seed sales, and steam cleaning tractors. Some of the non-profit activities included Christmas baskets for needy families, and a hayrack ride and weiner roast. The chapter also attended the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. Our annual Parent-Son Banquet was held in the spring. The event was very successful. During the F. F. A. week the chapter attended church together at the West Jersey Methodist Church and also presented a short radio program which was on the WKEI radio station in Kewanee. Row 1: L.-R. JootkJi It is evident that the Trojans had a rough season in terms of the won-lost record; but they were an improved team over last year’s squad, and their spirit was always there in every game. The Trojans lost their first seven games and then surprised everyone by beating Princeville 12-7. The team ended with a 1-8 mark for the season. Bob Williamson and Walt Anderson were selected for All-Conference Honorable Mention. Bob was also honored by being selected for All-State. For the past three years the Trojans have had a 1-8 season mark. We hope next year's team can better this despite the loss of these seniors: Walt Anderson, Roger Anderson, Jim Tuttle, Bob Williamson, Dave Raork, Lee Pyle, Craig Webster, and Roger Talbert. This year's team was led by one senior and four juniors. Since four of the starting five are juniors and with a few good sophomores coming up, we should have a pretty good team next year. Although it was a losing season, the team spirit was always there and there was also many loyal fans throughout the season. We're looking for a much better season next year!!
