For the first time, Willi Gym was designated as the site for the Prom and many said we couldn't fix up such a huge place, but in one week it was trans- formed into an oriental paradise. Multi-colored streamers formed a ceiling, while at one end of the gym was a large beautiful mural of Mt. Fuiiyama, painted by Kenneth Korte. Refreshments were served in a teahouse by two sophomores, dressed as Japanese servants. The king and queen were crowned on a bridge, while the band was located on the stage behind the bridge. The evening opened with the traditional banquet, which was held at the Presbyterian Church, then came the Prom. All in all, it was a night to remem- ber for years to come. Before the year was over, TO members of the class were selected for National Honor Society, while 16 were awarded the Scholastic T, presented for the first time in the eastern Wyoming and western Ne- braska area. Shirley Meininger handled the iob of president, while Janet Whitman was elected vice-president, Sharon Meininger secretary and Dave Lundgreen treasurer. fl pilyb i - . Later, Donna Rae was named to represent Wyoming at Girls' Nation. gf Gaz? ., 'M- il I September, 1959 found us reaching our long- awaited goal-we were seniors! Out of 123 fresh- men, our number had dwindled to lO6. First on the agenda was the battle for Student Council president, with Dean Johnson edging out Lonny Rawlings. Then we re-elected Sharon Mein- inger to the post of class president, while Ray Lapp was named vice-president, Karen Porter was elected secretary and Dave Lundgreen returned as treasurer. Once again Mrs. Marian Ayars was named head sponsor for our class, assisted by Al Butterfield, Carrol Butts and Paul Boucher. lt was a busy fall, annual pictures, Homecoming, Twirp Week, and finally the selection of our class colors, flower and motto. Winter brought concerts, Court Queen, new equip- ment in the senior home room, on-the-iob training for lo girls, plus the senior class play, December Bride. Then came spring with the Educational Tour, the Junior-Senior Prom, and finally graduation. As time goes on, the experiences we had in THS will be among our fondest memories. ' Six members of Torrington's iunior class attended the 1959 Boys' State, including Dave Taylor, Lonny Rawlings, ' SOD. .i .C . ,W,'h.fg2l. , Dave Lundgreen, Keith Haase, Jim Kildebeck and Dean John-
