A familiar sight from not too long ago: New band uniforms are scattered throughout the bond room as members scrounge about for their own personal ensembles, ln a year when both of Pender County's high schools hired new band directors, Topsail was more rhan fortunate to get Michael Ryan. A native of Wesr Virginia, Mr. Ryan came to Topsail to es- cape ihe snow and experience coastal life. Ryan raught or several schools in W. Va. including Ripiey Hrgh, whose marching band won the ritle of Grand Champion and tools all 1sr places in the South Regional Band Fesrival in that state. He hoped to false his present march- ing band to more competitions starewide in the near future. His other plans included a trip, replac- ing damaged equipment, buying new instruments and music, and purchasing new instrument lock- ers. Mr. Ryan has done a super job with rhe bands this year and hopes that by the starr of the next foorball season the marching bond will be at their best. ill E 5-i Pi E1 5 Q 25 QQ 3f'D we iior band members are recognized during halftime.
