Out 70664 de 064 I and 74 70055 ie Wea: DECEMBER-Basketball games and wrestling matches start off the winter season. Student s compete between classes to collect food for a local foodbank. Everyone gets into the Christmas spirit by setting up Christmas trees atop the gym, in the library, and in the office. The Top-Hi Choir combines with the Zillah Choir to usher in the Christmas season with a concert in the gym. JANUARY-A donkey basketb all game is held-and proceeds are used to buy an ice machine and wrestling scoreboard. Ski Club members begin their skiing season with a trip to White Pass. Wrestlers open up their league season after Christmas vacation with three league victories and only one loss. The basketball team continues to place in league standings. Flanc improve and move into third h Party takes place January 27. Debbie Clark is crowned Miss Toppenish with Cindy Potter and Marlene Kinder as runners-up. FEBRUARY-Seniors start F graduation announcement ebruary with the ordering of s. The District Basketball Tournament, February 26, marks the close of the basketball season. The Top-Hi wrestlers have a successful year and eleven matmen go to regionals. Dennis Peterson, Jack King, and Jim Sevigny goto state for further competitions. TEN MORE YARDS-Barbara Gamble comes in third in the one hundred yard dash at girls' state track meet. JUST A LITTLE MORE-Tex Reid and Guy Hoon watch as Gilbert Seefeldt pours sulfuric acid into the sodium chloride. TAKE IT EASY BRIGHT EYES -Leon Johnson, Kevin Barr, Becky McClain and Cecilia Ramirez go through their parts in The Belle of The West. MARCH-Girls' and boys' track, tennis, golf, and baseball composed the spring sports line-up. Helms team closed the intramural basketball season by winning the championship. Teachers and students pitched in to move supplies and equipment to the new high school building on Tuesday, March 28. Wednesday, Work Day, students earned money to buy new furniture for the student lounge. Thursday was report card day. Only one more quarter to go! APRIL-English students and faculty began writing Learning Activity Packages. The Senior Mothers' Tea warned the upperclassmen of the few remaining weeks. A first for Top-Hi was Jim Sevigny's winning of the free-style wrestling gold medal.Creatively decorated in two-tone blue, the Junior-Senior Prom added to the end-of-the-year festivities. The band collected booster money to finish the month. MAY-Assemblies for campaigning A.S.B. candidates, Rally Squad tryouts and basketball awards brightened spring days. Ski club members made their last runs down the sunny slopes. Classes and clubs prepared for that final day. The choir performed the musical, Belle of the West, before Toppenish audiences to initiate the new stage. We did it! The Manhattans went to Oregon for the All Northwest Swing Choir Competition where they placed second. The band entertained at the Toppenish nursing home. Mr. Mathis' drama classes staged several comic plays in the last few weeks. For seniors the last days meant baccalaureate, an honors assembly and finally - graduation! JUNE-For sophomores and juniors there was one last week of finals, fines, lost books, and report cards. SWK?
