Meeting us our first week at school was the bar- gain sale of Activity tickets, plus the news of var- ious summer activities. In the next few weeks, election fever rose to its highest pitch, and all the girls had a Hwacky party. After the voters once again had cast their ballots, the juniors took over and presented a masterful production of junior Miss. And Senior Gene Gooding stole the show! P. S.-The gals paid, this week. With their consecutive victory string at three, the football squad chose Bonnie Frommer as Homecoming Queen with attendants Gerry Dykes and Evelyn Stahl also watching the Trojans pick up their sixth win of the season, After the best All-School party program in years, the coronation of Queen Jeanne Bowman and,King john Knoll took the spotlight. The coronation proved a fitting climax to a perfect evening. These events and others like them afforded the material from which the fall World staff, Walter Menninger, Editor, and Donna Deck, Business Manager, fashioned news for you for a semester. interest in journa ism revo vas aroun QUILL-SCROLL, JR. PRESS QUILL AND SCROLL One of the highest honors that may be at- tained by students is to become a member of the International Honorary Society of High School Journalists, Quill and Scroll. Only those associated with high school publications, either the annual or the newspaper, are eligible for membership. Each student nomi- nated must submit an original piece of writ- ing to the naitional secretary before being ac- cepted. This year the ollicers are Walter Menninger, President, Jeanne Bowman, Vice- President, and jancy Hunter, Secretary. JUNIOR PRESS While scurrying after ads, identifying names, typing, folding papers, and doing various other jobs, members of the Junior Press Club have learned a lot about journal- ism. They had their moment of glory while publishing the World themselves. , When pins were distributed at the close of the year, each member received-them proudly, knowing he had worked hard to win them: Officers were: 'Virginia Bartos, President, Don Brown, Vice-President, and Marie Pay- ton, Secretary.
