They are active in Topeka civic affairs, linking the school with parent-groups, church interests, and business men, in this way providing students with the friendly understanding of adults whose places they will someday take over. Dr. Kenneth McFarland, as Superintendent of Schools, has the assist- ance of M. VI. Whitson and Mrs. Thelma Miillin, Clerk and Business Man- ager. President Kenneth Hobbs heads the Board 'of Education, which in- cludes Vice-President A. H. Saville, Charles Bennett, Marlin Casey, Mrs. David Neiswanger, and Kelsey Petro. E. B. Weaver, Principal, heads the High School group, Dr. Giles Theilmann, serving as head of the Guidance group, is an Assistant Principal. Dr. Don A. Walter, in charge of Curriculum, also is an Assistant Principal. Miss Annabel Pringle is Dean of Girls, and Kenneth H. Cl Mrs. Fayeben Wolfe's 2nd hour Art Crafts class works diligently on pottery and carv- ing. 01 C0-op class taught by Carl Nall practices retail selling FACULT Oilice secretaries: Carolyn Lightbody, Helen Graves, Martha Pitt Seated: Gertrude Mclver asses an outside activities sponsored by Reinforced with five new teachers and one new secre- tary, the Topeka High faculty began its duties last Septem- ber without the last-minute changes that had become almost habitual since the beginning of war conditions. The year that followed was busy to the brim with sponsor- ing exracurricular activities of the school as well as main- taining Topeka High's standards in the class rooms. New teachers were Bill Adams, Englishg Robert Gray, mathematics, Miss Ruth jacob, physical education, Miss Carolyn Lightbody, secretary, Robert McKibben and L. H. Moulden, social studies. New courses introduced or revived included aero- nautics, boys, cooking, family relations, human relations, personal use sewing, and radio announcing. In the last year three of the faculty were married but continued with their work. Miss Gertrude Jones became Mrs. Buford Mclverg Miss june Hays, Mrs. Wayne Lind- sey, and Miss Gladys Brooks, Mrs. Marvin Hess. -Teachers whose pictures are not included on the follow- ing, pages are Miss Rosella Kerr, English, J.
