l l15l Much credit for seasons scores goes to COACHES Men behind the sport scene at Topeka High are the coaches. Head coaches had assistance from faculty men who spent much of their time aside from their regular teaching duties helping the mentors mold their teams. Bob Briggs took over the head football coach's job with Mel Seelye assisting with the varsity. Marvin Bayless, and Vernon Hayes guided the B and C teams with the assistance of james Colton, Chet Daven- port, Robert Gray, Lloyd Kistler, and Leo Thomas. Chet Davenport continued being head cage coach with Mel Seelye taking over the B team. D. L. Erwin, led the track team, while swim- ming coach Chuck Mills and Bob Briggs helped with the cindermen. Spring sports were ably guided by Frank McGrath, baseball, Floyd Holcomb, wrestling W. Barnett, tennis, and E. L. Fink, golf. T Club initiation is one of the highlights of the year, with initiates being made to do Whatever the members tell them to. Between the hard work and time put in to earn a TH sweater, and the good-natured hazing just before the initiation, membership into the club is con- sidered one of the biggest honors a boy can earn. T Club President John Knoll was elected in the fall along with Bill Roberts, Vice-Presi- dent, and Dean Smith, Secretary. Faculty Sponsor is D. L. Erwin.
