ounci s compose CQNGRESS An integral part of Topeka High's student government is the Representative Council. Guided by Miss Lois Fergus, Faculty Sponsor, and headed by Speaker Neil McNeill, this Council functions in a similar manner to the United States House of Representatives. Composed of 66 homeroom representatives, the Council meets once a month. At their Hrst meeting, members elected Neil, speaker, Dean Smith, vice-speakerg Nancy Taggart, Secretary, and- Geraldine Dykes, treasurer. Since legislation concerning money originates in the House of Representatives, similarly the Representative Council Was responsible for the sale of Activity tickets, of which a total Hugh Greer Election Commissioner Row 1. john Long, Miss Lois Fergus QSponsorj, Carol Lee Shaw, Norma jean Bledsoe, Gerry Dykes,, jane Romig, Nancy Taggart, janet Adams, Neil McNeill Row 2. Ratifying bills passed by the Student Council is another duty of the Representative Council. Legislation concerning school problems is discussed and voted on.
