This is the home of the Kansas Life Insurance Company, which was officially opened on Armistice Day, November 11, 1926. The building is not only one of the most pretentious of the city's business houses, but it has proved its solidity in resisting fire which broke out in the base- ment shortly after it was completed. The company is one of the twenty-one insurance companies which have home offices in Topeka. .it trttx X f, , ri-r H XQTQNF' X. Bethany College The original Bethany College was started at Tecumseh in the early '60's by an Episcopal minister. At that time it was thought that the capital of Kansas would be located there. When Topeka was decided upon as the capital, the school was brought here. The first building occupied the pre- sent site of the Woman's Club. The present building is the home of some 300 girls from kindergarten to college age. The ivy-covered buildings and the beautiful grounds of the college form one of Topeka's prettiest spots.
