Hotel Jayhawk Since the Hotel Jayhawk was opened, August 26, 1926, its beautiful lobby, lounges, and dining rooms have become the center of much of Topeka's social life. With its completion was realized a dream-two high-class, modern hostelries for the visitors who come to the capital city. In connection with the hotel there are a theater and an arcade with dis- play windows and small shops. The Jayhawk Walk, as it is called, is the first arcade in Topeka and marks a step in the progress of advertising.
