MMM Xxxtx Carnegie Medal to Marjorie Williams I The heroism of the late Marjorie XVilliams of Topeka.QQnsas. who lost her own life in attempting to rescue a friend from drowningfshas been re:ognized bythe Carnegie hero fund commission. according to word eived by her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Williams. A hero's medal will be sent them. Marjorie Williams was drowned last June in the La Cavz-fRiver near Vander- bilt. Tex.. while attempting to save her friend, Miss Eugenia Neider. Eugenia was swimming behind the boat which Marjorie was rowi when she was sud- denly stricken and disappeared below the surface. Majorie eaped from the boat to her rescue but both were drowned. News of the tragedy saddened the gathering at the commencement of Topeka Catholic High School.
