STUDENT COUNCIL e During the past year the Student Council has grown stronger, undertaken more re- sponsibility, and continued in its original capacities unusually well. This body is the nucleus of every form of student affairs and school life, and the whole spirit of the school hinges on the leaders who serve on the Council. HONOR SOCIETY The Tonopah High School Honor Society was reactivated this year for the first time since 1954. Four of the original members, Seniors Arlene Kretschmer, Phyllis Lydon, Leila Wolfe, and Sharon Mitchell, reorganized the club and held the offices of President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice President, respectively. Mr, Lepore is the faculty sponsor. A Formal Banquet and Initiation was held this spring and the following new members were initiated: Marilyn Nelson, Barbara Funk, Naoma Mann, Deanna Daniels, Seniors, Tom Wilson, Junior, Loraine Johnson, Sophomoreg Connie Cox, Sue Cavanaugh, Norah Baird, and Alice Mitchell, Freshmen. Q3 ,M 4 It CARNIVAL PATSY WILSON Carnival Queen for 1956 Attendants: Deanna Daniels, Seniorg Marilyn Carlson, Juniorg Virginia O'Berg, Patsy Wilson, this year's Queen of the annual T.H.S. Carnival, has the distinction of being the first Freshman candidate to become Queen in a number of years. This cute Frosh, with the support of her class members, sold a record number of tickets and well deserved the honor of being Queen. It is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and its purpose is to acquaint high school girls with Govern- ment procedures.
