The black legged triplets. We got 'em- 1985 611155 Keunivn This reunion will now come to order! Secretary, pleast take roll call. So were the words of CATHY STRACK, our 1965 class president, calling this 1985 reunion to order. Incidentally, Cathy informed us that after her graduation from Illi- nois State University, she devised a new system of mathematics set to music. The alumni then gave an account of their ca- reers as they answered roll call. They are as follows: BARBARA ARKELS: Barb is now situated in New York City, where she is known in society as the famous stylist for men 's coif- fures. STEVE ARKELS: Steve informed us that he became lead guitar player in that fabulous group known as the Ventures. JANET BAKER: With a good start at Tonica Hardware, Jan informed us that she now owns a chain of nation-wide hardware stores known: under the name of Red's Bolt and Nail Store. MIKE BAKER: Due to Mike 's immense interest in playing cards, he told us that he now manufactures cards of every conceiv- able type. JOHN BANGERT: John's career really gave us a charge. He told us that he had started a very technical electricians school. Several of John's students liked this class so well and got so excited that they got their wires crossed one day. RON BANGERT: Ron Bangert and BOB OLSON Estates are known throughout Illinois. They informed us that they teamed up together and confiscated nearly all the surrounding farm land. Since they arrived in a Rolls Royce, we took it for granted that either the chickens were laying good or that the corn was producing 500 bushels per acre. BARBARA BARNHART: This prosperous gal told us that she set up a newspaper office in the metropolis, Leonore. It seems like her paper, Tiger's Tales is becoming world-wide for its sports and New Year 's Eve news. NANCY BARR: Nancy now owns a chain of elevators. She has really gone sky high in big business because she gained control of the river traffic, JACK BERNARDONI: Jack gave up professional basketball to accept the position of President of the Teamsters Union. Jack really won high respect for truck drivers by raising their wages and modernizing the trucks. CHERYL BRADY: Cheryl 's future included that of an artist. The past years she has spent painting the cat-n-mouse scene from the Junior play Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick. GARY CALKINS: As expected, Gary went into the automotive business. After several years of racing, Gary went into the business of manufacturing life-time transmissions for every make of car. DICK EARLES: Dick spent four years at Illinois State, then he came to the attention of the Olympic scouts. He already has a total of ten gold medals--being the pride of the U.S. track team. DON FIKE: Don really went to work in basketball. He revised all the rules for women 's basketball, and became world known. RON FREDERICK: Ron was one of the few who remained in this area. Ron became Chief-of-Police in the La Salle -Peru area. He told us he is working his way up to a fine position in the State Police Department. LARRY GOODBRED: Larry really became powerful when he was appointed chairman of the Republican party. He is now pre- paring possible candidates for the upcoming election. It is rumored he might be one. MARGE GUALANDI: Because of Marge's superb success in the business field, she was selected out of 2000 girls to serve as the top, official secretary to the Major-General of the entire Armed Forces. From what I hear, she certainly enjoys her job. ROBERT HOBNECK: Bob seems to have changed much in appearance. His only ambition was to become a Biology teacher. He just finished his final examination and has readily accepted a job at Vassar. CAROL JAEGLE: Because of Carol 's interest i.n FHA, she went to become national advisor. In her spare time, we heard that she teaches the children of government officials--that's what we call a real Farmer's Daughter. SHEILA KEITH: With the booming business of her Root Beer Stands, Sheila instituted a school for car hops in Tonica. She tells us that it is really booming and that her enrollment has jumped to 500. NANCY MERTEL: Nan informed us that she 's filming T.V. land 's favorite family show. Her husband and twelve children enjoy it as much as Nan, we heard. SAM MILLER: Boy, Sam really became a millionaire! He made his fortune by manufacturing souped-up-sleighs. ANITA SCHMITT: Due to Nita's frequent visits on the Oswego race track, she got bit by the racing bug. She now owns and drives the hottest car Oswego has ever seen. KAY SCHMITT: Kay moved to Streator not long after graduation and is very active in politics. Word is she's up for the ap- pointment of superintendent of public parks in Streator. GEORGE SKWERES: Skip informed us that because of his interest in baseball, he owns and directs all of the top leagues. He also said in his spare time he manufactures Edsels--his favorite car. MIKE SONS: When Mike went down to ISU, he liked it so much that he wanted to stay permanently, so he accepted a job as head custodian. JIM SMITH: Jim was one of the few that really became a great success! Jim manufactured his own pool tables and yes, be- lieve it or not, his own pool halls. He will even build it for you, if it is called Jim's Pool Hall. SHARON STILLWELL: Because of Sharon 's excellency in band, she replaced Lawrence Welk on Saturday night and the Shindig band on Wednesday night. Her next engagement includes a tour of Europe. CAROL STRACK: Carol, as everyone remembers, was an expert dancer in high school. This pastime led her to her very, enjoyable career, a dancer on Shindig. Carol even won the intemational dancing titleship. LINDA WESTER: Because of Linda's love of the Navy, she even joined herself and became a major. Linda never did tell us why she liked the Navy so well, but a certain piece of jewelry sorta gives it away. JANICE ZELLMER: Janice's career included that of journalism. What part of hurnalism? Oh. Janice writes sermons for her favorite minister. This meeting is now adjourned! Senivris las! Will and Testimony I, Janet Baker, will my DIET to Frank Zimmerman. Those standing from left to right are Kathy Bartoloni, Carol Ieagle, Sheila Keith, Sharon Stillwell, Janet Minick, Mike Sons, and Cheryl Brady. The Librarians are in charge of the library. They check out books, keep the library, reference books and maga- zines in order, and aid any student using the library. Mirrvr The Advertising Committee has the job of selling ads. This is an important and tiring job to keep the records and money straight. If it weren't for the selling of ads the yearbook might never come out. Mike Baker, Larry Still- well, Kathy Hobneck, Earl Schafer, Nancy Barr and Lynn Lambert make up this committee. Pictures as you may know are the important ingred- ients in making a yearbook, because of this we need students on the Photography Committee who know how to handle a camera and have different ideas when taking pictures, Pam Gray, Ianice Zelmer and Theresa Vogel were picked for this committee. 22 Staff . . The Typing Committee consists of Catherine Ash- ley, Cheryl Brady, Mike Baker, Marrianne Apple and Linda Strack. They do all of the typing on the original pages of the annual. Cheryl Brady, Susan Swift and Frank Zimmerman are the Make-Up Committee. Their job is to write out the copy for all of the pictures in the annual. SCHOOL DAZE STAFF The SCHOOL DAZE, our monthly school paper, is published by the students taking office practice. Composing the paper are reports of the various classes and organizations: sport news and special features written by the students themselves. This little paper can keep you informed on what 's going on in Tonica High. Advising the students working on the SCHOOL DAZE is Mr. Myler, our business teacher. STUDENT COUNCIL Student Council is really the gathering of all the classes and clubs into one organization. Every class has a boy and girl representative and each club has a member representative.
