I959 SENIOR PROPHECY I had recently arrived back on earth after twelve years on the planet, Pluto. Everything certainly seemed strange! Being away so long, of course, I was anxious to see how much my native planet and friends had changed. After getting off my XYU24 Rocket, I was taken to a huge, glass-walled hotel called THE VENUS, which is owned and operated by none other than Gene Been- enga. The following morning I started touring New York City, of which Dennis Gingerich is now mayor. The city hadn't changed much. As I was walking through the park I was surprised to see Reid Riley feeding the squirrels Synklor's peanuts. I chatted with him a while and walked on, only to see a shabby looking character lying on a bench. After a closer inspection I found the gentle- man to be Chuck Schiffbauer. It seems as though he's practicing for the role of Freddy the Ereeloader. By this time I was getting somewhat hungry, so I stopped in a little restaurant c a I l e d Bob's Super - Duper Hamburger House, Who would ever think Bob Burgess would be standing over a grill frying radio active hamburgers? On my way back to the hotel I picked up a newspaper. I couldn't believe my eyes. There in huge, bold letters were the words: MARTIANS HOLD MUGS DAUBER CAPTIVE. Some people just never learn. Reading on, I found that the warden of the Mar's prisoners' camp is my school- hood friend, Martha Krieser. Who says women are useless. I took a shower and got dressed to go out for dinner. I went to a club called THE IUPITER. As I walked in, I was amazed to see Ken Sons blowing with all of his might on a trumpet. I always said Ken had a ear for music. Suddenly the music became very soft and romantic, and Susie Siemers sang my favorite song, SULPI-IER GETS IN YOUR EYES. Her voice is much higher than it was the last time I heard her. The next day I visited the lower class of people of New York City, as much as I hate to use the wordethe slum district. At one of the worst looking homes I saw the beautiful Edna Calkins hanging ra-er, I mean clothes! At her feet were five little children. She surely has her hands full! I soon took a helicopter out of that dis- trict and went to Satellite Square. As I was strolling along Saturn Avenue, my eye caught the words, Lynda Brady, Attorney, printed on a window of the Hend- rickson's Building. Lynda a lawyer, I could not believe it! Suddenly, frightening me half to death, a siren screamed. Zoom! Staring after a racing squad car, I recognized Kathy Gass. I learned later that she is now a lieutenant of the New York City Police department- Homicide Division. By this time I was tired of walking so I hailed a cab. As I was riding past the airport, I saw a plane taxying down the runway. Being fascinated by jets, I asked the cab driver to pull over so I could watch it land. I wasn't alone! I was no more than out of the back door when suddenly a troop of raging photographers and press agents stampeded over me. Before long I under- stood why. Getting off the plane was the glamorous movie star, Fawn Rene! Of course, I recognized her as Rosan Bangert. I tried to get near enough to say hello, but after several futile attempts I climbed into my waiting cab and left the airport. For some strange reason, I suddenly noticed that I needed a haircut so I went back downtown. The first barber shop I saw I entered. I was amazed when I saw Bruce Nicholson hovering over a bearded gentleman. I-Ie surely works fast with a razor, I must say! As I was coming out of the barber shop, I ran into Larry Hiltabrand. Man, the busi- ness he's in!! Elanked on either side of him were two glamorous chicks who looked as if they were straight from Paree. He's an artist, and they were a couple of his models. Boy, what a living! Farther down the street I noticed a group of men building a glass bubble. As I walked by, I heard someone yell a brief apology. Of all people! It was Dave Earles! It was a little later that I heard some- one saying that the governor of New York was to give a speech that evening. The governor of New York at this time is Philip Stanford. He surely did rise to fame! That same afternoon I attended a con- cert of the New York Philhormonic Sym- phony Orchestra, of which Carl Sauter is now conductor. Birdie must have taught him the fineness and grandeur of music. With a million beautiful notes running through my brain, I returned, utterly fatig- ued, to my planet.
