This was The year ThaT a new presidenT was elecTed for our naTion. We elecTed our presidenr, Guy FriTz, and vice-presidenT, Mary Ann SwifT. Phyllis Schiffbauer was elecTed secreTary, Mary Jo Corrigan was elecTed Treas- urer, and Bob Earles was elecTed reporTer. Mr. Mesik was our sponsor. To raise funds for our fufure acTiviTies, we paid class dues and had bake sales. Our ac- counT did noT increase very much The firsT year, buT we were proud of whaT liTTle we did save. Early in The school year The sophomores in- auguraTed us inTo T. C. H. S. We had To dress as carToon characfers and scrub The school sTeps wiTh TooThbrushes. LaTer The sophomores inviTed us To a parTy, and we reTurned The favor by honoring Them wiTh a parTy in The spring. ln The fall of T953 we were sophomores. The spark of elecTriciTy creaTed by Ben Franklin and his kiTe 200 years before was nofhing compared To The charge we creaTed when we enTered The halls of T. C. H. S. This fall. We had losT four members, buT we had noT weakened. UniTed we sTand, and unifed we sTood. This was The year STraTTon was elecTed gov- ernor of Illinois. lmporTanT? Yes. BUT our new officers were also elecTed. Bob Earles and his guardian angel acquired The honorable office of presidenT. Gayl Milner was chosen vice-presi- denT, Guy FriTz, secrefary, Beverly Ferroni, Treas- urer, and Deloris Gray, reporTer. Mr. Clark was our sponsor. This year wiTnessed The royal ceremony of The crowning of ElizabeTh as Queen of England. Our class gave The freshmen a royal welcome inTo high school. They dressed as carToon char- acTers, and as our royal subiecfs They had To bow To us whenever we came inTo sighT. In May we chose our class rings wiTh deliv- ery promised in The early fall. ln The fall of T954 we marched faiThfully back To T. C. H. S. We had losT Two more mem- bers and now numbered 27. This year Mr. ArThur was our sponsor. PeTe HilTabrand was presidenT, Beverly Ferroni, vice- presidenf, Bonna Launius, secreTary, Bob Earles, Treasurer, and Mary Jo was reporTer. This was a greaT year for us. We sold pop and candy aT acTiviTies, and we held our bake sales. Miss Boddie helped us produce a comedy play, Desperate Ambrose. Early in April we sponsored The prom. The Theme was Hawaiian Cruise. We decorated The old gymnasium in Hawaiian moTif and in- viTed The seniors as our guesTs. The cruise was very successful, however, iT ended Too soon, and we had To reTurn To T. C. H. 5. ln May we waTched The senior graduaTion ceremonies and anTicipaTed when we Too would graduaTe. ln The fall of T955 we lnow 2il were seniors! We decided To seTTle down and work a liTTle. Our guardian angels were becoming disgusTed aT Trying To keep up our grades when we didn'T seem To care. For many of us Thisswas To be our final year of schooling. This year our efforfs were direcfed Toward Three goals. school work, The Trip To WashingTon, D. C., and graduaTion. IT was a busy year. Remember The selling of pop and candy, The suppers, bake sales, dances, coaT checking, concessions, and anyThing we could Think of To make money for ThaT Trip To Washingfonl Remember The comedy play, A Lucky Penny, ThaT Mr. Slabaugh helped us pro- duce? An employmenT agency gave us TesTs To see whaT posiTion we were besT suiTed for. Many of us were very surprised To see whaT we were capable of doing. The iuniors sponsored The prom for us in The monfh of May. Thank you, juniors! We shall al- ways remember iT. The nexT evenT To come, and The lasT one, was graduaTion. One day in T956 we were seniors, The nexT day we were beginners again.
