One day a sailing ship landed near The presenT siTe oT This Town, The Indians, insTead of aTTacking These wayward sailors, welcomed Them wiTh open arms. The seamen Traded peace- Tully among The redmen, exchanging baubles and TrinlreTs Tor corn and oTher edibles. The redmen showed such greaT kindness To The whiTes ThaT The visiTors promised To reTurn. And reTurn They did many Times. The oldesT and wisesT of The Tribe was always on hand To rneeT The sailors. Thus a TasT Triendship was Tormed beTween The whiTes and The leader oT The Indians. On subsequenT visiTs some special giTT was always broughT To lndian Tom, as The chief oT The Tribe was called. AlThough kind and consideraTe, Tom, in playing lacrosse and ofher games, always played To win. This spiriT has been handed down Through The years. lT is whaT has mode our high school greaT. Thousands have graduaTed Trom TRHS buT The spiriT oT Old lndian Tom has never dimmed. Loolc around Tomorrow on The aThleTic Tield or in The classroom. Loolc aT The number of people aTTending The sporTing evenTs, The braves and sguaws are Trying To keep This shining TradiTion unTarnished.
