Previous to the series of conference games, they lost games to Mosinee and Phillips. When the season finally ended our boys were in seventh place in the conference standings, having won ap- proximately oneithird of their games. Had they not suffered unexpected reverses, the season would have been more successful. You will remember how at the first Marshfield game and also the last Merrill game, after having played winning games throughout, those teams managed to edge out a win over us during thc final seconds of the game. Had those tough breaks been avoided, our boys could probably have claimed a .500 season. At the league tournament which met at Antigo, the Tommies played a losing game against White Lake which eliminated them from any fur'her participation. The total number of points which the team gathered for the year was 419 which meant a 26 point game average. Our opponents scored 503 points, or 31 points for their average game. llns h h O comparison does indicate that our players did play a series of good games throug out t e year. ur boys also had an exceptionally good free throw average this year scoring over half of the shots taken: that is ll0 made out of 218 attempted. This record for free throws was higher than that of any other team in the conference. Lester Dean, our star forward, was second highest scoring man in individual competition in this conference and was surpassed only by Nimz of Wausau. Dean also made the greatest number of free throws of any player in this conference. Receiving major letter awards in basketball are the following players: Wallace Wurl. Jack l L D an Eu ene Kind Gordon Mitchell Harold Thompson Dick Theiler, Rodnev Chva a, ester e , g . y - . n - , I. Timm and Eldridge Polege. Minor letters were awardedlto .Bill Biard, Joe Frawley, John Hein, George Kreutzer, Fred Timm, George Theiler and Eddie Jim Theiler. Jimmy Frawley and Jerry Neumeyer were capable and eflicient managers. h f h a the re xter number of games can sav that our bovs did not disappoint Toseouswosw gi I , . , Q us in the least. After all they may have been outscored in some of their games, but certainly they were not outplayed at any time. All of their games were goody the kind we enjoy seeing. INDIVIDUAL RECORD wi...
