Clanton as faculty advisor, a Student Patrol was organized to direct traffic at the close of school and during the noon hour. The patrolmen direct so that students avoid traffic when they cross the streets, stay within the given yellow lines and cross streets at right angles and only at the intersections. The prime purpose is to prevent accidents, and it should help to teach the small children to observe and learn proper conduct in crossing streets. Captain Harold Thompson and Lieutenants Jerry Neumeyer and Eugene Klusil are the student leaders with Lts. Edward Clanton and Ashton Crapeau and the patrol- men from the grades on active duty. 2 L'l'. yl. NliL'NlliYllR, C.XI l', ll. THONIPSOX, I.'l'. E. NIUSII. 5

Your opinion was probably as good as mine, when it came to talking football last fall. lt was hard to predict just what kind of a season lay in store for Coach Sebeson and his gridders when they began training for the '43 season. One thing which was evident, was the fact that the odds were against the boys in bringing home a successful season. ln the first place, less than thirty-six boys signed up for practice and by the end of the year they numbered around twenty-two. Of these, seyen were letter men from last year, Dean, 'l'ht-iler, VVurl, Chvala, Boyle, Blayer, and hlartell. Probably the greatest handicap of all was that of weight. Yes, our boys lacked beef , and plenty of it. For instance, our inexperienced line averaged only l-f-l- lbs., whereas the back field tipped the scales only around the ISO lb. mark. The THS gridders were the lightest team in their conference. Despite these odds, after four weeks of rigid training, they were ready for their first test. Out on the practice field they didn't look badg but how would they do in a game? VVould their inferior size hold them back? Could they function smoothly and swiftly? It wasn't long before the answers to these questions became evident. YVhat our boys lacked in size, they made up for in speed and con- trol. They gave to us an undefeated seasong the first of such seasons we have had since 1939. ln a series of good games our tC2l1Il won from Klosinee, Phillips, Rlinocqua, and Eagle River, and tied a game with Park Falls. Ar the end of the season, the boys chose XVallace VVurl and Joe Slayer as co-captains, and Les- ter Dean as the most valuable player of the team. lVIajor and minor letters were awarded to the following players: majorg John Hein, Kenneth Campbell, John Boyle, XVallace VVurl, Joe lNIayer, Iflmer Klartell, Ray Cychosz, Jim Kelley, Jack Chvala, Dick Theiler, and Lester Dean. Xlinorsg Harold Thompson, Aldon Hudson, Louis Beau- doin, Rodney Timm, Fred Timm, Bruce Boyle, Phillip YVhite. hir. Clanton assisted Klr. Sebeson in coaching the team. Klention should also be made of Joe Frawley, Eugene Nlusil, and Earl Oelhafen who served as managers. The team this year was a better all-round team than we have had in a good many years. Coach Sebeson and the boys deserve a great deal of credit for making a successful season, of which the whole school is proud. LOOKS LIKE SLONV 'NICJTION T.-XNGIJIIJ'
