Team Situation Master Minds Kevin Flanders tries to attract an animal on a field trip in Poynette, WI last year. The purpose of teams is that in a smaller group the students get a chance to know the teachers bet- ter and have a greater sense of belonging. For example, one of the teams designed a logo and put them on T-shirts. The teams were phased in three years ago when the school district decided to go the middle school concept. The teams seemed to have af- fected the students. According to Mrs. Strozewski, teams make it easier for the students to know what's expected of them. Teoch- ers can spot problems quicker and there's more communication with parents. On team reward days teachers and students get to know each other outside the classroom. Different teams have gone to movies, plays, parks, etc. Also, now the ninth grade teachers have formed 0 team this year. TEAMS 49
