A spirited group of boys and girls met in Mr. Rayment's room early in October to prepare themselves for the fore-coming debate season. The debate question resolved: that the Presi- dent of the U. S. should be elected by the di- rect vote ot the people. This was first dis- cussed with other schools when the team trav- eled to Eau Claire October 28, then again to Eau Claire November 19 for the kick-oif prac- tice debate tournament. December 8-9, Tomah sponsored a two day discussion debate con- test with Tomah placing first and third. Ian- uary 14, saw them again at Eau Claire, where they tied for third place. They left the La Crosse custnct contest january 21 holding the impres- sive title of district champs. The hiqh-lite of the year came January 26-27, when the A squad traveled to St. Peter, Minnesota to participate in a debate tournament at Gustavus Adolphus college. The debaters tied for second in com- petition with teams from six different states. February 4, the team traveled to Stevens Point for the sectional tournament and here they missed the boat to the state contest. Never- theless, we hope the team of next year will go ahead with the same amount ot spirit and enthusiasm catching that boat which leads to the state. Good luck! By constant planning, experimenting, and re- planning, each of you will meet the needs and opportunitiesof tomorrow. -V. C. Crane Commencement time forcibly reminds us again that life is a constant come and go. Each of you plays his little part. Each of you has his role assigned by Divine Provi- dence. The way you play your role, be it a leading part or insignificant will determine the happiness of others as well as your own - for time and eternity. The world itself will be a little better - or a little worse - because of your coming and going, which will it be?
