It was a time when all the hard work and dedication came to a climax. Being my first year on varsity, it was quite a change from the freshman and JV levels. Football had always been a sport that had attracted its share of atten- tion. I guess when l played before I receiv- ed that kind of support, but never as much. Wearing the team shirts automatically separated you from the rest. I won't say it made me feel superior, but it did wonders for my self-esteem. Boutonnieres were instant eye openers, I was fortunate enough to get one for this game, but some donned one every week. Along with spirit boxes, giant cookies, cakes, stuffed animals, pillows, and towels, the flowers really added to the col- or of the day. I t seldom showed, but the support received was appreciated and only served to keep us going throughout the season. A team surrounded by people who support and care will always come out on the winning side of any season. I have to do my homework in the little time I have. When the teacher stops lectur- ing and there is about five minutes left in class, the rest of the class uses this time to relax but I use it to do my homework. I also do my homework during lunch when I know we're going to have a long practice. l'm not complaining about Top Cats tak- ing up a lot of time. l'm just glad it has taught me how to budget my time, which will help me in college.
