You are not only a team, but a winning team; for winners are not measured by the number of points, but rather by not being easily defeated and by having enough drive and determination to continue playing at your best. You have done all these things and much more. It has been an experience, both pleasant and rewarding to be able to work with such a great team. And I am honored and proud to be your coach. Last year's third place in the State A Meet is not out of reach for this year. Some good athletes graduated last year, but we are a year stronger and there are some good freshmen beginning their careers as Tolt Track Champions. I keep saying that the key to our success is team depth. We need everyone to do their best no matter what the rest are doing. Every performance is important, even a tie for sixth place. Herzog, M Coomer BCTS’ II U I Last year Tolt finished third in the Cascade League Meet. With many new promising rookies and returnees, Tolt's 1977 team should be strong contenders for the League Championship. Tolt's strength will be in the distance events with Rick McManus, Marc Coomer, and Chris White contending for State Honors, Bryon Geerhart and Paul Carter will give the Demons strength in the hurdle events. Keith Solberg and Dave Floan should lead the Demons in the jumping events. George Bick should be a standout in the shot put and discus events. Special recognition should be given to the team captain, Rick McManus who provided THE needed Leadership.
