The cover says, To Tolt With Love taken from the song, To Sir With Love. This year the staff worked hard to put together what we think is the best annual ever—and we've ded- icated it to you. Tolo is an Indian word mean- ing record or diary. In the center, you find two pages of snaps, spotlighting Homecoming Week, sponsored by the cheerleaders. Monday was Bicentennial Day, dress up in your Red White S’ Blue's, Tuesday was Rise-n-Shine day, wear your PJ's to school. Wednesday dress up as a slave. Happy Days was Thursday, grease back your hair and roll up your pants. Friday was Demon Day, Orange and Black was everywhere. The royalty was crowned during halftime. Martha Giusti was crowned Queen, and Bob Dissinger was King. Sr. Prince's and Prin- cess's were Dave Dunham, Leroy Huffman, Sharon Wallace and Jill Stephens. Geri Wink- ler and John Martin represented the Jr. Class, Joy Harvold and Scott Cameron were from the Soph. Class, and Stacy Rosenbach and Tom Clark were from the Freshman Class. The Senior Class finally won the float competition, with two floats, a team spirited one and a Bicentennial one. The A. S. B. Student Council this year (p. 5) was a highly effective body. Wayne Herman was appointed the new Vice- President, after the transfer of Judy Paulsen. For Basketball, the cheerleaders changed around a bit. The new ones were Charlene Herman, Margie Poer, Sheri Enyeart, and Carrie Foster. All the cheerleaders did a great job and deserve a big THANK-YOU. In sports, the Cross-Country team (p. 53) went all the way to state and came home with a 4th place trophy. The track teams (pps.36 and 37) look very strong this year with the underclassmen filling in the ranks. The girls are looking toward their 3rd League Champion- ship title in a row. We had one faculty change since our last deadline. Doug Hall, a first year teacher from Longview, came to replace Mrs. Weglin (p. 73) who remarried and moved to Arizona. Mr. Hall student taught in Belling- ham, where he coached basket- ball. This year was a year of growth for everyone, especially for the Senior Class. Tests were taken and futures considered. The class was under the leadership of Rick Neilson and Sharon Wallace, Secre- tary Margie Drumm and Treasurer Scott Rusch. Advisors Larry Lydan, Dick Gibbs and Jane Byram were always around to help us. The theme of gradua- tion is of yet undecided, but the colors will be Red, White and Blue. This year has been a great one, packed full of fun, laughter and at times, a few tears. We hope that this book will bring back those times and memories for many years to come. - 4 A.S.B. Officers: Treasurer - Steve Kruse; Secretary - Kelley Kent; V. President - Judy Paulsen; President - Linda Herzog This year the school was much more involved in everything. We added some new clubs, revised the constitution, and really worked hard to make the year a success. Special thank you's go to all the officers for all their hard work and enthusiasm, and Mr. Rice as our advisor. I would also like to thank Mrs. Whittaker and the entire administration for cooper- ating with us. -Linda Herzog Back Row: W. Herman. L. Raczynski. L. Huffman. J. Kaelln. P. Duke. R. 1McManus C. And after all the league league finals have been played, the team members take time out to coach a Powder Puff team. But before the big game there was practice; and the guys tried to teach us all the fundamentals inside of two weeks. We learned about holding, scoring. How to throw a pass, and generally all the options. On November 14, both teams-Jrs. 6 Srs. met on the field and proceeded to show all they had learned. The Srs. were victorious for the 2nd yr. in a row with a score of 34-16. Afterwards the wet, muddy players met at Farrells for cake ice creams. I would like to say a special Thanks to the seniors who helped to form the Girls' Basketball program at Tolt. To my whole team, remember this thought written by Alan Seeger: Whether I am on the winning or losing side is not the point with me: It is being on the side where my sympathies lie that matters, and I am ready to see It through to the end . The future benefits you receive from your time at Tolt Jr.-Sr. High School are directly related to efforts you put forth. I hope those efforts will provide you with a lifetime of reward- ing experiences. Gene Maxim—Superintendent I thank you for the privilege of learning from and with you. After thirty years, I still feel being a teacher is the way to go Fad and styles change, basic human nature doesn’t. A pole, a stream and me. A fairway, a trap a green; a nap, a dream, retirement. Congratulations, Class of 76. You have distinguished yourselves in many areas. It is my hope that you, as a group, and as individuals, will continue along the same line, to progress and be representatives of the true Bicentennial spirit.
