U.S. History students listen carefully to lectures given by Mr. Steele. Mr. Marshall assists students in government class. Play Opposite Role Dr. Crane explains the funda- mentals of Psychology. Students display current events in U.S. History.

Senior students display talent in drama during their English classes. English and History Mrs. Bush points out the case history of a paragraph to her English students. Through the study of English and History students have learned the funda- mental knowledge of English grammar. Also they studied literature which included the reading and understanding of novels, and short stories. In order to understand their reading better students displayed their talent in drama by acting out plays during English hours. History also played an important part this school year. Senior students studied the working of the U.S. Government, while U.S. History students studied the complete history of their country and the problems faced by them. World History students studied problems and history of foreign lands. 18

Business and Manual Arts This student Is seeking additional advice on typing lesson. Being the only male enrolled In Typing n re- quires absolute concentration. Tolleston School offers a com- plete four-year program in business. Among the courses offered are Book- keeping, General Business, Typing I, and Shorthand I and II, and Clerical Practice. In these courses the students learned that accuracy and neatness were requirements for success in the business field. Advanced students worked untiringly to prepare them- selves for secretarial work. Many business students signed up with the co-operative program which enabled students to go to school half day and to work the rest of the day in their chosen fields. In Manual Arts students learned how to use their hands constructive- ly. Planning, designing and building such items as knick-knack bars, book cases, tables and stools devel- oped skills which students will surely find valuable in the future. These typing students strive to increase number of words per minute and decrease errors. 20
