Highlighted The Season The Football Homecoming highlighted the seasons fall activities this year. Follow- ing the customs of the past years, we had our annual Homecoming Queen Contest. Over fifty girls ran for Homecoming Queen 1965-66, but only 8 finalists were chosen. The candidates worked faithfully to turn in money and to get additional tickets from Coach Stearnes. Finally, the big night arrived and four big convertibles drove eight finalists around Tolleston’s Field. Then the most thrilling moment of all arrived, Joyce Ann Gregory was chosen Homecoming Queen 1965-66. A crown, a leather coat, and a bouquet of roses were her prizes, while the runners- up received leather coats, sweaters, and bouquets. The Queen and her court rode off the field to become one of the highlights of 1965-66. The Queen received many con- gratulations and wishes for a very happy reign. The two runners-up in the Queens court were Olivia Williams and Alice Lyles. Homecoming Queen 1965-66 Joyce Ann Gregory

Football-O-Rama Stimulated Students Football-O-Rama contestants wave excitedly to the crowd. As the summer came to an end school was atxmt to start, the Football-O- Rama was the first activity, and it lifted the spirits. The eight Gary public schools played against one another in the kick-off festivities of the football season. Four girls were chosen from each school to run for Football- O-Rama Queen. The two finalists were chosen according to the amount of money turned in. This year two Juniors were the finalists. Our Football-O- Rama Queen was Miss Linda McCoy. The game was very exciting, although the final score was zero to zero. The other scores of the Football-O-Rama games resulted as: Horace Mann 7 Roosevelt 0 Lew Wallace 7 Froebel 7 Edison 0 Emerson 0 The eight reigning Foot- O-Rama Queens pose hap- pily for their pictures.
