Honor oclety Is Urganlzed The National Honor Society was organized in 1921 by the Secondary Schools Principals Association to honor students for high academic achievements. Tolleston's Ernie Pyle Chapter began in the spring of 1959, with Miss Anna Marsh as its sponsor. This year, the Honor Society started their activities under the guidance of Miss Edith Wallace, their new sponsor. They acted as hosts during National Education Week and participated in the selection of an American citizen to the Hall of Fame for Great Americans. The year's activities drew to a close with the induction of new members, who were chosen ior scholarship, service, charac- ter, and leadership. The old jalopies which could usually be seen in the school parking lot were now shiny new cars, and the young ladies and gentlemen who emerged from them only faintly resembled the students we saw walking through Tolleston's halls every da . YBoys in tuxedos and girls in fluttering iormals could be seen dancing to the music of Iohn Nolan and his orchestra. The dance drew to a close much too soon, but the memory of a magical Evening in Paris lingered in everyone's memories for quite some time. ,
