Football Season Everyone seems to be looking for something. Could it be the ball. boys? Since homecoming is the highlight of football season, it doesn't take long for the enthusiasm to spread throughout the whole school. A pep session began this year's homecoming weekend. This was followed by a hectic rush to gather wood and boxes for the bonfire Thursday evening. The students gathered on the baseball field, to watch the blazing fire and cheer the team on to victory. The homecoming game was played against Valparaiso on Friday, October 16. ,Though we were losing, the crowd remained in high spirits through- out the game. lust as homecoming is the highlight of football season, the crowning of the homecoming queen is the highlight of the homecoming ceremonies. A new method was used in selecting this year's queen - the candidates had to sell tickets. The girl who sold the largest number of tickets was chosen to reign over the festivities. After a beautiful half-time exibition by the band and the majorettes, Carole Sebben, the top salesgirl, was crownedi queen. Sharon Williams, Hanna Guip, Grace Engel, and Sarah O'Neal made up her court. The girls were driven around the field in convertibles as the band played Let Me Call You Sweetheart. Shirley Johanson, one of the majorettes, followed with a fiery baton-twirling act. The annual home- coming dance was held after the game as a perfect ending to a hectic weekend. Our first touchdown touches off the spirit of the crowd. The bonfire burns brightly the night before the game.
