October TS, the day ot the game, was another gloomy one, but still the spirit remained, as the bleachers tilled with Tolleston tans. The band and maiorettes, atter many long practices, presented an enioyable halt-time show. A hush tell over the crowd as the voice ot the Student Council President, Joyce Pruzin, came through the loud speaker, The Queen is Her Maiesty, l.orene Guzil4l Lorene was chosen by the Student Body. The yells ot the cheerleaders and the crowd were heard until the tinal seconds ot play, but still the Raiders lost to Lew Wallace, T2-18. ln spite ot deteat, the students danced to their hearts' content at the Homecoming Dance in the gym after the game. A TIME FOR ll:AKn . . . Tl-te se a,' rtiG'S are F1011 alumni' A TIME FOR TEARS . . From deafening furor to muted silence the great auditorium finally settles. With up-raised hands and ready baton Mr. Bielslqi warns the kettles. He gives the beat for those drums to follow while we upstairs wait-so faint and hollow. One, two, three-and it's time to go! Oh, no, not yet-not yet. But march we must in rigid step to the loud, firm tempo set. Each step brings a memory so clear of each and every fun-filled year. When we were young and carefree and gay, and the cold, cold world seemed so far away. The visions vanish as we come aware of the plateau-like stage at the head of the stair. The Chrysanthemum odor so strong and sweet gives courage for the things that we must meet. You'll Never Walls Alone' were sing- ing now, Oh, tears, clon't come -not now, not now. A warm handshake, diploma now in hand Congratulations S e rt i o r, yOU've ieaghecl The Promised Land. And then a voice like the crack of doom penetrates the spellbound room . . . Class of 7958, you are now grad- uatedf' And the tears flow freely down your cheek while your knees feel rubbery and weak, Friends crowd together, each happily crying though in their hearts a little some- thing is slowly dying.
