Amounts of untold treasures are to be ob- tained during the guidance hour. One hour is set aside for intellectual stimulation. In the remaining three days, students may use their creative imagination in plastics, metal or woodshop. To build up their social status they may attend club activities. (guidance Counselor: Mrs. Mildred Gilpin Homeroom Chairmen HOMEROOM GUIDANCE People soem to believe lhal the «lory of Cinderella is a fairy tale. If they had ovor seen a shy. scrawny freshman enter a school, jumping at every noise, afraid of his own shadow, then to emerge a sonior. walking straight and tall, his head held high, confidence in every step, ho would be sure that this transformation must suroly be magic magic created by the wand of the guidance hour. In September. 1949, the Homeroom Activity hour was introduced at Tolleston School by Principal James W. Standley. He believed this activity-group guidance hour would foster greater individual growth and provide oppor- tunities for life adjustment. The Homeroom Guidance program has resulted in many a transformed Cindorolla. As a result of this pro- gram. a studont learns to locate his assets and weaknesses, and emerge a stronger adult with visions of making his community, his country, and the world a stronger, more democratic place in which to live.
