With the third representative, who is chosen by the class sponsors, these people work together with Mr. Edmon Goforth to formulate the general policy of the student body. The activities cf the Student Council are many and varied. This year the Council took over the weekly Wednesday evening Social Club and each month held a special dance. They also sparked the Com- munity Chest Drive at Tolleston ond were strongly urging the installation of a public telephone. Council CLASS OFFICERS Mory Eichtfetfer. Secretary Shirley Jefferson. A recheck of the year's activities list discloses the obviousness for the double meaning for the Tolleston chapter of the T.A.G. — Teen Age Girls, or Tolleston's Active Girls. Dances, meetings for the pur- pose of religious education, and distribu- tion of Christmas toys for the Goodwill Industries are a few of many under- takings. An important T.A.G. affair is the annual Mother's Day Tea, which is held in the Y.W.C.A., and which offers the mothers and daughters an opportunity to participate in the same social event. , 0 0 t KV1 „ O' ® And everyone hod fun, is usually the report given ofter any activity held by the Girls' Club, an organization of junior and senior girls. Annually the Girls' Club, sponsored by Mrs. A. S. G. Rotenburg, participates in the Lake County Girls' Conference. This yeorly event is the culmination of the year's discussion of good grooming, etiquette, dotes, home life, etc., and is highlighted by outstanding speakers and unusual student talent. BAND Beautiful music and pleasing harmony reached the ears of the audience as the lights dimmed, and the curtain rose on another Tolleston Band Concert in the Memorial Audi- torium. Besides the annual concert, in the Hobart contests, the band walked off with three su- perior ratings and twelve excellent ratings. In the Indianapolis contest, the soxophone quar- tet was rated excellent, and the clarinet solo won a good. The chief reasons for these successes were the loyalty of the members, the direction of the conductor, and the helpfulness of the Bond Booster Club. Cfjoral Groups 1«t Row: Remit Novak. Under the capable direction of Miss Charlotte Domroese, music instructor and singer in her own right, the Mixed Chorus and Girls' Glee Club have built up a reputation for smooth hormony and a uniqueness in presenting skits. Outstanding in both respects, hove been the soloists, double quartets, and especially, the barber shop quartet. The groups hove afforded many enjoyable moments both to school and civic organizations. 0: IS GIEE CLUB OFFICERS Norma EsIm. Pr i J nt; Mo y Bockhom, VkoProtidontj Donna Motto. Through its willingness to help any group in need, the R.O.T.C. has gained a reputable name throughout Gory and the Middle West. If you were to join the R.O.T.C., you would soon find that it isn't an organization which teaches a boy to be a soldier as many people believe. It is, rather, an organization that teaches methods of good leadership — something necessary to all good Americans. Tolleston's rifle team, for the past three years, has led the city in practically every match fired. The team took first for Gory in the Hearsf Trophy Match, first in the shoulder to shoulder meet, ond first in the National Match.
